What is the best / most durable material for shoes?

Please help me convince my partner that leather is the best for shoes!

He is very rough with his shoes and always ends up scuffing and completely wrecking them.

I make sure he gets the best shoes - we spent almost $ 230 on his last pair (which is $192 US). http://z.about.com/d/mensfashion/1/0/r/7... %26lt;--- go to that link to see what they were like.

Now they're really stuffed (not even a year later). NOT TO MENTION THE GUY HAS AN OFFICE JOB!!!

Anyway, we were arguing over coffee this morning because I said the best material is leather and he said 'No it's not durable and its scuffs and wrecks really easily'. (No duh because he doesn't use any product, doesn't polish or clean them..)

I know synthetic sucks because:

it sweats and stinks

once its scuffed, you can't buff it out

they don't stretch so they hurt forever (bad for your feet).

He wont listen to me, maybe after reading your thoughts on the topic he will become a little more educated about quality.

A good pair of Italian leather is good and will last. A little costly but well worth it.
Reply:Leather, or payless shoe store because you can buy new shoes all the time and throw the old pair away when they start to stink or gets scuffed.
Reply:I would definately go with some kind of titanium alloy if durable is what you seek.
Reply:Leather is ver durable but I have to choose none of the above.

I know canvas is more casual. I've has the same pair of canvas shoes since 7th grade, I stopped hgrowing then. They stiall are wearable, but they are dirty. The best thing is, you can throw them in the washing machine to clean them!

Hope this Helps!

Reply:leather is correct
Reply:Are you sure this guy has an office job? sounds more like he's a bike messenger, scuffing shoes that bad. Leather if taken care of will last for a long time. What he needs is some combat boots.
