Can I 'paint' my silver man-made material strappy sandals purple? I need them for a wedding. Don't have $$

It is hard to find dyables my size ladies 12. I need a 'victorian' purple on my shoes. I have a size 12 silver manmade material shoe. Is there a special 'fabric' paint I can use on them without them cracking, etc that won't look icky? Going to the Grand Canyon for an outside wedding. Can hardly afford the trip, much less buying everything to be standing up!!!

Help!!

Can I 'paint' my silver man-made material strappy sandals purple? I need them for a wedding. Don't have $$
I would try a permanent marker, like a Sharpie. They come in lots of colors. They make one that is a highlighter and has some transparency to it. So you can show the silver shine through the color if you want to.

That stuff seems to stick on everything and stay forever. I believe it would bond with plastics and vinyl.

I got my set at Office Depot.
Reply:use a fabric craft paint but do not expect it to come out as the dye may stay
Reply:You won't be able to use fabric paint because the silver man mad material is shiny and it won't stick. If you take a light sandpaper to it (very, very ,very fine sandpaper you will still have an unfinished look. Go to Payless shoes and they will have either purple strappy sandals (odd colors are easy to find there) or fabric strappy sandals and use fabric spray. the shoes shouldn't cost yu more than $20.00 if that.
Reply:Payless has cheap dyable shoes. Or, you could spray paint them, but the color will come off on your feet. (I did this for a friend's wedding)
Reply:i think if you go to a craft shop you should be albe to find a dye. that would avoid the chiping, i know my mom used to buy white dress shoes %26amp; dye them, but i dont remember where she would get the dye :/
Reply:See if you can find permanent paint in spray form. I'm not sure if you want to use non gloss or not. Go to a craft store and ask for help. You can also buy dye over the counter but I don't think it would work on silver. Make sure you "mask" off the rest of the shoe before spraying it so the color won't get on parts of the shoe that you don't want to change. The only draw back is it may crack. If you do use a spray paint, make sure you do about 2 layers and make sure they are thin and completely dry in between layers. Try walking around in them after the first layer is completely dry and see if they crack. If they do, I don;t think painting them will work. I wish I had more info. but this is really a shot in the dark. If all else fails, wear the silver shoes. I think your friend is more interested in you being there more than anything. If you explain the dilemma, I would hope she understands. The Grand Canyon is gorgeous. And everyone will be looking at the bride and not your shoes! (I live in AZ)
Reply:You CAN buy shoe dye, you know...
Reply:I would paint them with a purple from OPI nail colors, and then paint over this color with a clear top coat. It works on nails why not on shoes?
Reply:I think your best bet would be to go to your nearest autobody shop or hardware shop and ask them for vinyl/car interior paint. It comes in a spray can and is supposed to resist cracking/chipping AND it sticks to "manmade" materials!
