Does anyone know the website where you can design a custom shoe with different country's flags on the bottom?

I saw a sweet website several years ago (probably about 6-7 years) that you could create custom shoes. It would allow you to change all the colors of every part of your shoe, and then as an added bonus, you could have a flag pattern on the bottom with a layer of see through material protecting it. I wanted one with the Israeli flag so freaking bad, but I didn%26#039;t have a job, so, no money. If anyone can help me, I would love you for eternity.

Does anyone know the website where you can design a custom shoe with different country%26#039;s flags on the bottom?
ya go to : www.dontbelazyandlookforthewebsite.org
Reply:I know that with nike id you can add a logo of flag for some of the shows

That is the website. Just explore it and you will probably find a shoe you can put the isreal flag on.

Would you risk your life for a dropped shoe??

some have more money than sense,, lady just crossed the road opposite me ran to get to the middle as she got there a shoe fell out onto my side of the road ,,she ran out to grab it with a truck doing 80 in a 50 k zone looming toward her(i thought i was witnessing our latest statistic) when she got to my side and asked here what in gods green she thought she was doing??she replied she had just paid $300 for them and didnt want them run over!!! i said is that all your life is worth and walked away shaking..... have you ever stupidly risked your life for something material possession like this idiot ???

Would you risk your life for a dropped shoe??
no - but then again, i would never pay $300 for a pair of shoes
Reply:things like shoes can be brought again your life cant.
Reply:haha, i bet she was blonde!!hah!!

i havent, for i have more then two single brain cells!!hah!
Reply:Maybe she had saved for 20 years to get that $300 just for that one special pair of shoes she had wanted her whole life???? Then would it have been worth it?

Probably not. But a lot of times we don%26#039;t stop to think about our actions and their consequences.
Reply:I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet. (Maybe he lost them on the street chasing shoes?)
Reply:no..at no cost..i would stand on the side and wait for traffic in hopes my shoe made it alive..besides why was she crossing the road with on coming traffic...my young lady
Reply:True some people dont give up ,trained thought ,unessisary risks, bad instinks, that why cats have nine live yet some people probably think they have even more.feast or fammine! Some animals do learn to wait before crossing the road ,usually the poor judgement of the whole pack wanting to cross at the same time!

I need help with these terms when buying shoes. What do they mean: leather upper, balance man made materials?

The upper (top part of the shoe) is leather, the balance (remaining part of the shoe) is synthetic (not leather).

What is the name of the shoe..?

The shoe has two straps that go over the foot and come in tan and black. I want to say Burke and _____

_______%26amp;_______

A lot of people have them. It looks like it has a clog material on then and the straps have buckles on them. IF you know please give me the name and where I can find them.

Thank you and ill choose best answer.

What is the name of the shoe..?
It%26#039;s called Birkenstocks. They are around 62-129 dollars. But really they are comfy! The bad thing about them is that they get smelly really quick, and they leave your footmark on them. Just wear socks if you buy them :)

Do you have any suggestions on how to deal with my shoe issue?

I bought some boots about a week and a half ago (11/24). They%26#039;re awesome, I love them, etc, but I%26#039;ve worn them about 6 times since then and they are already starting to wear out (pretty badly) on the back of the heel! This is where my shoes normally wear, but after many, many uses, not SIX TIMES. The heels are stacked and I can already see the wood used to make the inside.

They%26#039;re not $400 boots, but neither are they Payless (the brand is Chocolat Blu, in case you%26#039;re wondering), and I%26#039;m just looking for advice as to what to do.

Options:

1. Try to take them back to the original store, though their return policy clearly states that the shoes need to have not been worn.

2. Take them to a cobbler and have them repaired with better materials.

3. Suck it up and tell everyone I know not to buy Chocolat Blu boots (even though they are mad cute).

I just want to know how angry I%26#039;m allowed to get. I mean, I don%26#039;t expect my shoes to last forever, but a WEEK?!?! I think it%26#039;s ridiculous.

Do you have any suggestions on how to deal with my shoe issue?
Bring them back to the store. I bought my waterproof dark brown suede boots (125$) though they were on sale (used to be 225$) and after 4 days, the zipper clasp on the side broke so i brought them back to the store and even though they couldn%26#039;t repair it, they made me a refund and appologized even though i had worn them a couple of times.

The difference is, you are not returning them after wearing them because you got bored but because of low quality or manufacturing default. Of course, the return policy is always to the store%26#039;s own discretion but unless they were marked final sale (meaning buy them as they are), you can always try and with a good attitude, there is nothing to lose.
Reply:yea they shouldn%26#039;t have worn out so quickly.

personally i say take them back to the store and be angry.

but if you take them to a cobbler they%26#039;ll be good for a really long time.
Reply:Take them back to the original store. Their policy would apply if you just decided you didn%26#039;t like them, but if they are defective (and they sound like they are), the store should give you your money back.
Reply:i would so complain to the store, or the brand. cuz they should not be worn out already!!

What is name of the Chinese Laundry Shoe that is like "Devote" but not patent? just regular shoe leather?

I tried on a great shoe tonight at DSW. it was by Chinese Laundry. It had a big, think, square heel, and a round toe. it is the same style as %26quot;Devote%26quot; but a different material. The %26quot;Devote%26quot; is crinkled patent, but this one is just leather. Does anyone have a clue? I need it in a 9, and they only had an 8.5 in the store.

Shoe Color With Pale Yellow (Silkish) Dress?

Hey my semi formal is coming up and I have a really pretty dress. It is pale yellow and is made of a silk type material and I was wondering what color shoes I should wear. (It%26#039;s March so I thought white would look bad).

Shoe Color With Pale Yellow (Silkish) Dress?
No, I think white would be perfect. Since your dress is a light color, you dont want to overwhelm it with something dark or bright.
Reply:White would be perfect.
Reply:Depends on the length of the dress and what kind of statement you%26#039;re trying to make.

Simple, sweet, classic: White or pale gold

Sophisticated, trendy: silver, orange, or even an ornamented shoe that doesn%26#039;t really have a color, but just twinkles.
Reply:I think a bright color like red or blue would look amazing. If you want to keep it toned down a little more, brown would be nice.
Reply:white would be good
Reply:white would be good its hard to really answer honestly without seeing the dress but white and depending on the dress maybe if you could find something the same yellow...but that might not look good ....

Bought a NIKE product shoe and after a week the tip of the shoe broke so fast and NIKE denies any replacement.

My daughter wore it only for a week during her tennis varsity practice. We tried to return it but unfortunately, NIKE states that it is not a material/workmanship flaw. How could this be? She just wore it a week for at least 2-3 hours? Of course she has to wear it to play but a week old shoe should not go bad fast?

Shoe paint , customizing it?

i want to get into customizing my shoes like air force ones , and other leather shoes. [IMG]http://i11.tinypic.com/66w6xrc.jpg[... i wanna do stuff like that but what materials do i need please help

Shoe paint , customizing it?
Almost (but will eat my words if I am wrong) positive that those shoes have been sewn like that. It%26#039;s not paint, but instead different materials.

I have painted leather shoes before... very tricky. You have to sand and then stipple with white acrylic paint. after that you have to stipple on the colored paint to make your design. Spray with (many coats) of clear coat. If you don%26#039;t stipple, it will crack. However, even by doing this it won%26#039;t look like the images you posted. It has a much different aesthetic feel.
Reply:I agree with the above answer. Is hard to paint a leather shoe where the paint will not peel off. Since acrylic is plastic it could easily peel off unless you really sand the shoe.

Best shoe for a standing cashier? input appreciated!?

I%26#039;ll be starting a job in a few days where my duties are primarily cashier and stocking shelves. What is the best type of shoe for this? I%26#039;m assuming a walking shoe, or simply a casual sneaker? It%26#039;s required they be leather or %26quot;leather-like%26quot; material, not canvas.

I don%26#039;t have much of an arch in my foot, I do occasionally have problems with bursitis in my hip after hours of standing, and lower back pain (if any of those things influence your opinion!).

Do you have a specific brand you prefer? Why?

I will be so grateful for some HELPFUL, descriptive input!!!

Best shoe for a standing cashier? input appreciated!?
Anything with a really spongy sole and an arch support will help, but you should see if the store provides cushioned mats for the cashiers to stand on - they really reduce foot and leg fatigue.

Another thing to consider is getting a small sturdy box to keep at your register so you can put one foot up on it and switch off periodically. That also helps prevent fatigue.
Reply:Get yourself some Dr. Shoals.
Reply:I swear by a brand called Born (the %26quot;o%26quot; is one of those that has a line through it). They can be a little expensive, but I%26#039;ve always been able to get them for decent prices at places like Marshall%26#039;s and TJ Maxx. The instant you put them on, they feel like heaven. They%26#039;re also really durable, and most of their shoes are leather. I wear mine all day, all of the time and my feet never hurt.

Reply:I prefer %26quot;Red Wing%26quot; shoes, in the walking shoe type. They are the preferred type of shoe for postal mail carriers so that should say something for thier comfort.
Reply:You really get what you pay for. Do you have a store called %26quot;Big 5?%26quot; Any large store with Air Jordans also sell what you%26#039;re looking for.

Good luck with the shoes and the new job!! :)

Shoe help!!?

This feels weird asking this question because I own 100+ pairs of shoes, but I don%26#039;t know what these are called or wear to kind them. I tried on the uglest shoes at DSW the other day. I only tried them on to poke fun at them, but I quickly realized that they were super comfy! They were about a 2in heel, but the part that made them comfy was the scrunched up material. I don%26#039;t know how to descibe it but hey is a link to a similiar shoe http://www.target.com/Xhilaration-Simone... I dont know how to make it a hyper-link so you%26#039;ll have to copy and paste. Sorry. Please tell me if you%26#039;ve had this sort of shoe or if you know where to get them. What make them comfy. Anything else you might think I%26#039;ll find helpful! Thanks in advance. I have seen the hot shoe extension leads but these are £30 odd, is there a cheaper way of doing this as it seems expensive for a lead? I would ideally like to run two or three lights from one camera. The cheap way would be just using pc-sync cables wouldn%26#039;t it, or does your body not have an old style sync terminal?
Reply:Use a slave flash adaptor. No batteries required, Wireless %26amp; easily available from photo shops, use as many as you need.

They have a tripod bush.
Reply:you need either flashes with slave units built in, or the cords, or remote sync -radio slaves but these are more expensive, check ebay.

Which Croc shoe to keep feet cool?

I have a pair of Croc knock-offs that have inspired me to looking into purchasing from the company.

At work we have to wear enclosed shoes but it%26#039;s always so warm there I get overly-hot and very uncomfortable. I%26#039;ve cheated by wearing another make of shoe, in a sneaker-type mule, so I can easily kick them on and off when I have a chance.

My feet have NEVER been overly hot in my pretend-Crocs (which I wear off the job), like they have with sneakers, etc. I attribute that to not only the material, but also the GENEROUS and well-placed holes in the shoe. I don%26#039;t think I can get away with those holes at work, so I%26#039;m looking at the enclosed styles. I can%26#039;t help but think anything will make my feet hot, and by extension, ME hot :o( I%26#039;ve heard this isn%26#039;t true of Crocs, but I wonder if anyone has had experience with a particular style that they could recommend.

If you have any suggestions, please include men%26#039;s styles, too :o) I have big feet and can fit some men%26#039;s sizes.

Which Croc shoe to keep feet cool?
Most of Crocs shoes will keep your feet cool. So you have free reign to choose what you like. I think the original style of Crocs are super ugly, but here is a link that shows a much cuter pair that you just might like.

Your medieval dress should be long and full enough to cover your feet, so perhaps you could just decorate some inexpensive ballet type house slippers.

Leather

- from animal skins

What are shoes made of and where do the materials come from?
shoes are made from all types of things from plastic(synthetic fibers) ,leather(sharks) to cotton. It depends on what type of shoe u want they even have some made out of reptiles too.
Reply:shoes comes from all over the world, shoes can be made from real animals to plastic, leather, etc.

The upper soles could be either real or synthetic leader or plastic.

The bottoms are usually rubber.

The stuff in the middle is some sort of mesh.

Fibregalss isn%26#039;t a sfe material to work with , it gives off fibres that you can breathe in.

Reply:dude go to the hard ware store they can help you but seriously cant you just go to wal mart and get a caddie bag ans the papermachie thing i think you might be abel to if you hade some soch gard
Reply:By the time you buy the materials to fiberglass your shoebox you will have invested much more than if you had just bought a new makeup box. You can waterproof paper mache with paint, varnish, polyurethane, epoxy, etc. But again, it may cost more than a new box.

What are the best materials to make soles of dress shoes from and who are some manufactuers that can make 'em?

IMHO leather is best material for the soles of men%26#039;s shoes. (And the uppers, too!) I have some men%26#039;s dress shoes that are about 25 years old, and are still going strong having been resoled with leather many times.

That%26#039;s the nice thing about leather soles - the shoes can be repaired. The shoes require routine maintenance with leather dressings to last 25 years, though....

The problem with leather soles is that they get slippery on smooth, wet surfaces. But how often do most people routinely plan to go out in wet weather with good dress shoes?

Look in the yellow pages of your phone book, and look look for %26quot;shoe repair%26quot; (or %26quot;boot repair%26quot; if you%26#039;re in an area where boots are used for agricultural work). Call those places up, they can most likely point you to a supplier, or sell you some.

How do I make a wooden jewelry or shoe box?

I was wondering how I can make a wooden jewelry box. I wont have access to any machines or anything like that, Im plannin on getting the materials just at my local home depot. A list of materials would also come in handy, if anyone can add suggestions. I want the box to be about the size of a regular shoe box, and nothing fancy, just a box with a lid that opens up, used for storage of keepsakes that include photos, letters, etc. I also plan on engraving something in the front, maybe with a knife, any suggestions to this would also be appreciated.

How do I make a wooden jewelry or shoe box?
ok this is what you need to do:

1. decide what kind of wood do you want to use.

pine would be the cheepest way to go, oak would cost a little more but the finnished product will look ALOT better.

in ether case you will need a Few Basic tools :

1. a miter box (the cheep hand type will do)

2. a hammer

3. some finnish nails

4. wood glue (i like that gorilla glue) any type is fine

5. 2 or 3 small brass hinges

6. 1x8x8 pine or oak board

to build a 12x8x8 box you will need to:

1. cut 4 peces of the borad at 12%26quot;

2. cut 2 peces at 8%26quot;

3. glue and nail 2 of the 12%26quot; peces and the 2 8%26quot; peces together to form a rectangle

4. glue and nail 1 of the 12%26quot; boards to the back side of the box

5. now nail the hinges on the front side so they open out and nail the other side of the hinges to the other 12%26quot; board Thus making a door.

you can paint it or stain it and put a lock on it!

now i Know this is not prefict but using basic tools it will do the job.

if you want you could miter all the corners at 45o but this wont be easy with a havd saw.

hope this helps!
Reply:try a hobby shop, they have plain boxes that you can paint or decorate or actually maybe just glue a veneer on to.

A shoe shop for Ballet pumps.?

I am in a project to design a shoe shop for fashionable ballet pumps and flats. The client asks to introduce the concept of ballet into the shop design. The concept will be reflected in the materials, lighting, style and or a branding story, etc. Would someone like to contribute some ideas? Many thanks.

Help!! How to get sticker residue off bottom of suede shoe??

Please I need help desperately, I am giving my mom a pair of shoes she has aways wanted. When I ordered the Jimmy Choos they arrived with a price sticker on bottom of one shoe. The bottoms odf these shoes are a fawn colored suede like material not hard leather!! When I scraped off tag now there is a square where it has like a sticky, tacky residue and you can tell the tag was there because it is lighter in color!! Can someone tell me how to get it off so it won%26#039;t be noticeable?? I just want them to be perfect. I tried putting the sticker back on but now it wont stick! I only have one day and these are her dream shoes! I cant exchange they are out of shoe and I have no time!! Please help!! Thanks soooooooo much!!

Help!! How to get sticker residue off bottom of suede shoe??
If the bottom of the shoe is suede have you tried some suede cleaner, and use a plastic knife to %26quot;gently%26quot; scrap the area. Most Suede cleaner comes in a spray form, just follow the instructions on the can. You can purchase this cleaner at many of department stores. Or you can have this cleaned professionally.

Hope this helps, and I hope your mom loves her shoes!
Reply:cigarette lighter fluid and a rag.

rubbing alcohol would work, it just evaporates quickly.

brush spot while it is drying to get fibers upward again.
Reply:try a little methylated spirits, you need an alcohol based cleaner to get rid of gluey tack. It should be sprayed or use a dryish cloth, that will do it!

Help Pick A Shoe Repair Shop Name?

I%26#039;ve recently completed an apprenticeship with a cobbler, and have bought out a shoe shop that the owner had died so that I%26#039;d have my own machines and am now looking to start my own shop.

Most all shoe repair shops these days do not just work with shoes, they do a lot of work with repairing purses, all sorts of leather and heavy materials, coats, etc.

I am also going to be incorporating a retail part of the store where I will be selling shoe from established vendors/companies, as well as second hand shoes (high end name brands which have been repaired to nearly new condition).

I want the name of my shop to be short, catchy, and easy to remember. I have two ideas which I%26#039;m posting as a poll here: Shoes and More (or) Shoes Leather and More.

I%26#039;m also open to different ideas. I%26#039;m looking for any feedback/suggestions/help that you guys can offer. Thanks!:-)

If rubber & fabric are insulating materials, then why aren't shoes protecting people from electrical shock

Rubber soles do offer some electrical protection, but only if the electrical path tries to exit the body through the soles of the feet. The problem is the electrical resistivity of the material -- it generally means that you need much, much thicker soles to offer more complete protection.

If rubber %26amp; fabric are insulating materials, then why aren%26#039;t shoes protecting people from electrical shock
Well, if you%26#039;re talking about shock from electrical current like in the wall, then perfectly dry rubber-soled shoes will do a great job of isolating a person from ground electrically. But they won%26#039;t do a damn thing to, for example, stop an electrical current entering your left hand, stopping your heart and leaving by your right hand.

Relying on rubber-soled shoes for protection from high voltage electrical currents is a bad idea anyhow, because if they are the slightest bit wet then the water on their surface can create a ground path around the insulator which nullifies the insulating capability.

If you%26#039;re talking about static electricity, then insulating materials are in fact an absolute requirement for a charge to build up in the first place. Friction between rubber soles and carpeting in dry weather builds up a charge on the shoes, which draws electrons to or from your body and you can end up with a charge of hundreds of thousands of volts. Then, when you touch a grounded conductor, that discharges and you get a spark. The high voltage is usually not dangerous because the current (and thus the power) of static electricity is tiny, like picoamperes. Current, not voltage, is the dangerous component of electricity.
Reply:the shoes aren%26#039;t a part of, in, or covering the part of a person%26#039;s body that generally gets shocked. if you do not to recieve a shock, cover the part of your body that might recieve it with rubber.
Reply:There are usually nails or staples that hold the rubber on . therefore it doesn%26#039;t have to travel far to reach the foot or ground.
Reply:Because they are usually slightly damp from foot perspiration ( which is salty and so is a good conductor)
Reply:If you%26#039;ve ever seen lightning, you know how big of an air gap electricity can jump to find a good ground

Will duct tape remove the colors of a shoe? aka are shoe colors painted on or part of the material?

Will duct tape remove the colors of a shoe? aka are shoe colors painted on or part of the material?
Depends on the shoe %26amp; the material it%26#039;s made of! There%26#039;s no set rule for this.. try scratching the material a little on a little-obvious spot like the inside of the heel, and try to find out... but you may be better off with some other footwear or another kind of covering, tape leaves sticky residue that will probably be a pain to clean off even if the color doesn%26#039;t come off.

Wat brand or cross country shoe worked the best for you?

i have a pair of nikes and these shoes sucked so bad. i bought them at sports authority and i just picked out this pair. when i run, i dont get tired AT ALL. my legs (particulalry my calves) start to get sore and get hurt. i heard that i need new shoes that arent nike since they use cheap material. i had these shoes for over a year and run alot. these shoes only felt good for about the first 2 weeks and then they started to suck. wat bran ds would be good to buy, in your opinion and how much they cost. i live in south san diego, california and planning to go to Movin Shoes, since they are experts at running shoes

Wat brand or cross country shoe worked the best for you?
There is no answer to this question. I love asics, new balance, and adidas. With nike I lost a toenail (ewww)

It depends on so many things, like your foot%26#039;s shape and your desired workout distance. If you are running 2 miles that%26#039;s a different shoe than you%26#039;d need for 12 miles.

Do your feet pronate? Are you flat footed? Wide or slim feet?

Will you be running the streets (pavement and asphalt) or trails???

Try many brands and styles (not colors) and make sure they fit you comfortably because you can lose toenails, get blisters, shin or knee problems....good luck!

How to I get hot glue out of a shoe made from suede like material?

The only thing I can thing of is To Put folded paper towel, on top glue and with a warm, iron. iron over it. make sure you change the paper towel each time you do it, or else you will get more on it. What you are doing is melting the glue and removing it a little at a time until it is all gone. Hope this helps

Take your hot glue gun and empty it. Heat it empty and use it as a heating iron to soften the glue wad. It will soften enough that you can pull it right off.

Why would i need both shoe molding and four in one molding?(laminate floors)?

I%26#039;m thinking about getting laminate floors installed. I went for an estimate and on the list of materials I will need it lists both shoe molding and four in one molding. What’s the difference and do I need both?

Why would i need both shoe molding and four in one molding?(laminate floors)?
I dont know what your particular layout is, but I can tell you what the components are, and you determine if you need them.

Shoe moulding - trim approx 7/16%26quot; W x 3/4%26quot; H, with curved profile. Used against base trim when laminate is installed up to the base (shoe covers the required gap)

4 in 1 is a manufactured %26#039;cap%26#039; or trim used to %26quot;transition%26quot; from your laminate to surrounding surfaces (carpet, vinyl, ceramic, etc.) usually through doorways or openings to adjoining rooms.

Anti slip soles for snow/ice

Try using the pads u r suppose to put inside of shoes. Like the ones for heels. I think Dr. Sol%26#039;s is it that has a variety. U should be able to find this at any store. Just place them to the bottom of your shoe instead of the inside and this should work at least for awhile. Depending how much walking u do, u may have to replace them but u will not have to change shoes. Just in case its too expensive, cheap pair of anti-slip is at Wal-Mart about $20.

Looking for info on dance shoes, floors, materials and resources needed to perform, role of meds etc....?

I am tryign to find info for my girl scout troop. they need to know resources and materials that go into a performance, dance shoes and dance floors adn how they have changed over the years, the role of medicine in helping performers at their peak and what kind of injuries are common and how they can prevent them. I have looked til ia splitting headache and cant find what i need.

Looking for info on dance shoes, floors, materials and resources needed to perform, role of meds etc....?
As far as dance shoes it varies depending on what style you are talking about. Ballet originated in King Louis the 5ths high courts when ladies would do kicks and steps in high heel type shoes. Typical shoes a dancer would own include: Pointe shoes, ballet shoes, character/ballroom shoes, jazz shoes(sometimes called booties), hip hop sneakers, lyrical sandal or thong and tap shoes. The kind of shoes you are using varies according to what style of dance you are performing.

As for dance floors most dance studios and performing venues either have wood floors or marley floors. Wood floors are rather slippery sometimes and require the use of rock rosin for ballet and pointe. marley floors are vinyl type floors that are less slick and do not require the use of rosin. These marley floors come sort of like lynolium. They are in rolls and are placed over exsisting wood.

resources and materials that go into a performance vary. Typical things include music, choreographer, costumes, shoes, tights, lighting, props and of course a stage/dance floor. Typical class resources include a pianist or music, shoes, teacher, uniform, hair materials, a barre and a dance floor.

Medicine does not have a profound impact on dancers except for in the case of injuries. Injuries can go from minor to major. Everything from blisters, ingrown toenails and bunions to sprains, fractured and breakage can affect a dancer and their performance. Some of the most important things to prevent injuries include not over stressing your body, warming up, stretching, not performing steps you are not experienced enough for, not goofing off, trimming your toenails correctly and knowing your bodies limits. I hope that this helped!

I am interested in Shoe Polishes Making. Pls link me to any functional Websites for raw materials and Recipes.
Shoe polish is a mixture of pigments that provide color (for fixing scuffed places on the leather)and various oils and greases that make the leather soft and supple.Shoe polish is usually made from ingredients including naphtha, lanolin, wax (often Carnauba wax), gum arabic and (if required) a colourant. It has a specific gravity of 0.8, is negligibly soluble in water, and is made of between 65 and 77 percent volatiles. If I were making my own shoe polish,I%26#039;d start off with beeswax and neatsfoot oil, with perhaps a dab of oil-paint pigment in an appropriate color. Carnuba wax is another that%26#039;s used, and this can often be found in floor wax and car wax as well.

Neutral Colour Shoe Polish

To make a neutral-colour, home-made shoe polish, you would need:

Soap flakes 30 g (1 oz)

Potassium carbonate 15 g (0.5 oz)(Obtain from chemist/pharmacist)

Beeswax 150 g (5oz)

Gum arabic powder 15 g (0.5 oz)

Icing sugar 45 g (1.5 oz)

Slice the beeswax and add to 568 ml (a pint) of water. Stir in the soap flakes and potassium carbonate. Boil until a smooth paste. Whilst the mixture is still hot (turn off the heat, but act quickly), add and stir the gum arabic powder and icing sugar. For a specifically black polish, 280 g (10 oz) of charcoal powder from the chemist may be added at this stage.

In recent history the black colour comes from an aniline dye. The next recipe indicates that nigrosene (generically, a black dye made from oxidised aniline) was domestically procurable in the 1940s.

Note that the above recipe uses potassium carbonate (potash) whereas the following recipe uses potassium bicarbonate, which is not potash. Imperial Measures are in brackets.

Black Shoe Polish

120 g (1/4 lb) beeswax

284 ml (1/2 pint) turpentine

22 g (3/4 oz) bicarbonate of potassium

30 g (1 oz) nigrosene

4.5 l (8 pints) boiling water

Melt wax in boiling water and stir in the potassium, using a large pot to allow for the mixture foaming up. Dissolve the nigrosene in a little cold water and stir it in thoroughly, bring to the boil, and simmer gently for some minutes, stirring it until it creams. Take mixture off the fire, and stir in the turpentine. Put away in small tins, tightly closed.

[ ... p194: ] N.B.- In following recipes which contain kerosene, methylated spirit, turpentine, petrol, benzine or any other inflammable ingredient, great care must be observed to avoid making preparation near a lighted stove or naked flame of any kind.

What paint and other materials does an artist use to handpaint a vans slip-on shoe?

I am planning to handpaint my shoe but i don%26#039;t know what specific type of paint to use. Are there techniques in painting the shoe?

What paint and other materials does an artist use to handpaint a vans slip-on shoe?
you need to buy fabric paints.. you can get them at Jo Ann fabrics or places like HobbyLobby. :)
Reply:yep fabric paints- hobby lobby is cheaper than joanns. Also use a firm brush (stiff bristles) that way you can have crisper lines with more saturated color - have fun
Reply:i have painted several pairs or shoes including slip-on vans... i used acrylic and it seemed to work out nice but if you want to paint a flimsy shoe like a pair of chucks, use fabric paint.
Reply:Wal-mart, Hobby Lobby, and Michaels have fabric paints, they are pretty cheap.

Non-leather shoe material?

I need to find a pair of non-leather/suede boots(im a vegan going into the carpentry industry)so..

What are some non-leather materials shoes are made from?

Does anyone know where i can find a pair of non-leather or suede boots?

Non-leather shoe material?
There are many options for non-leather boots. What I recommend depends on what kind of boots you want and how much you want to pay.

A vegan friend of mine who works in a warehouse doing manual labor swears by Payless Shoes for his work boots. You can probably also find boots like this at Target, WalMart, or other discount retailers.

If you want to pay a little more for something that may last longer, you can look at a variety of hiking boots. Many athletic and outdoors shoes/boots are being made out of microfiber or other synthetic leathers because they are lighter and more durable. I found a very nice pair of non-leather hiking/backpacking boots from Lowa. They are the Vertex GTX boot, made of microfiber, nylon, and goretex. They%26#039;re fantastic boots, but they were pretty pricy ($225). However, I expect them to last for years of hiking and backpacking.

Of course, there will be boots that fall between these price extremes. Check out the sources I listed below for some online retailers.
Reply:Wal Mart- they are made of vinyl
Reply:Manatee.

I have a shoe float that was made for my daycare, can I deduct the paint and materials used for minor repairs?

My husband%26#039;s work built the shoe float a couple years ago, we keep it in storage and only bring it out for a couple of parades in the area we live. My daycare name is on the shoe float, I use it as advertising. I know I cannot deduct the actual shoe float, as we did not purchase the materials. But can I deduct the paint and materials needed for touch up repairs each year?

Sure. You use it to promote the business. That%26#039;s a business expense.

Art project creative shoe materials?
Tyres are used a lot in some countries, if you do some research and find a new way of using them, that could benefit a lot people and be good for the environment.

Rubber bands? Maybe you can find some really big ones to use on a sandal.

Wood? (which paper is, i guess)

Fabrics, like knitted, for example, with a sole.

Shoe materials?

I have been assigned a project to make a home-made useable shoe, and have no idea what to use for materials!

Shoe materials?
You can make a moccasin style from old bluejeans or cut up a large old handbag to get leather to use. You may be able to get one from a thrift store such as the Salvation Army or Savers. Old soft-side luggage will also give you material that is pretty sturdy. You can get this from a thrift store, too.
