What is the best way of extending the flash of slr cameras away from the hot shoe? £30 for the extension cable

I want to sync a couple of flashes %26quot;off%26quot; the camera as a cheap way of studio lighting for REAL amateur studio effects with diffusing material of some sort. I have seen the hot shoe extension leads but these are £30 odd, is there a cheaper way of doing this as it seems expensive for a lead? I would ideally like to run two or three lights from one camera. What should i buy and where from????

The cheap way would be just using pc-sync cables wouldn%26#039;t it, or does your body not have an old style sync terminal?
Reply:Use a slave flash adaptor. No batteries required, Wireless %26amp; easily available from photo shops, use as many as you need.

They have a tripod bush.
Reply:you need either flashes with slave units built in, or the cords, or remote sync -radio slaves but these are more expensive, check ebay.
