i am really curious about how girls wear shoes without socks and their feet are not sweatinf or smelling bad. i think it is related with the insole material of th shoe, so what's the most compatible insole type for wearing sockless? girls are all wearing those ballets or sneakers sockless, whats the type of insole of them? i am thinking to buy a fully leather insoled (fully leather, sole, sides and every place inside the shoe is leather) converse, and the outside is leather and fabric mixed. what do you suggest me to do? or i want to buy a nike roubaix which is outside of the shoe is full leather with breathing holes (not completely covered with holes) and the inside, back of the inside was nylon(fake leather) i think and the sole and the other (sides) of the inside was fabric, does fabric smells without socks? (i know canvas smells badlly from converse sockless) if i buy them, i will be wearing them sockless most of the time, so what do you suggest me to do? thanks for your answers?
What is the hint of girls about wearing shoes sockless?
Don't get anything leather, it's cruel! %26lt;3
Reply:most girls who wear their shoes like that aren't really wearing them sockless.
they make special socks to hide underneath different types of shoes, so there's a sock for ballet flats, and sneakers that you can't see when you put the shoe on.
and then there's some who's feet just don't smell :P
I think it's because girls take better care of their feet.
Reply:Depending on what shoe you wear, you might be able to get a ped (a partial sock that only covers the bottom, toes and heel of your foot) and that will make it look sockless. Or if that doesn't work take your shoes off periodically when no one is looking to vent your feet. I hate going sockless, it makes my feet feel so gross.

What material are your shoes?
I am vegeterian but I do wear leather shoes. Pleather looks cheap and more importantly I loathe synthetics. I just can't find a good alternative. I don't wear a lot of different styles of shoes. I only need 1 pair of dress boots and 1 pair of dress heels. I don't have any problems finding casual shoes that are canvas but dress shoes are a big problem. What are my alternatives? I am desparate for some animal friendly choices that look nice as I really have to look upscale for work.

Your question got me curious, so I did a search for "vegan friendly shoes". Here are some of the results(please understand that I'm not vegan, so I don't know how great these sites actually are, they are just what came up from my search):

As a vegan I would never wear leather shoes.

Manufacturers basically refuse to make non-leather shoes, and hey, if cow scraps are cheap, why not? There are also some pretty cool hemp shoes out there too if you want the burlap look. But if I did have the money, I'd buy shoes from here:
www.veganwares.com
I did LOTS of looking around and found that these shoes were top quality vegan shoes that were also COOL looking etc. that they make themselves. And the Australian Dollar is so much more attractive than that bloody British Pound. They'll even do custom shoes for a price. That's cool! They've been around for at least 10 years (yes, I've been poor that long... much longer in fact).

Can someone help me on a pair of shoes?
I need some shoes that are related to or maybe even these colors: http://www.shoes.com/product.asp?p=50386... %26lt; but not as expensive. Can someone help me? I have to get shoes that aren't too thick around my ankles - something that is in along the lines of these. My feet can't fit into shoes that have a think material around the shoe! If anyone can give me ideas or some type of shoe I should look for or where I could get shoes like this that aren't so cheap - I would be satisfied! Thank you for your time and patience! :-)

Payless sells shoes very similar to that. However, I think they are orange not grey and blue.
Reply:to be honest thats a pretty good price on those shoes considering the quality they are. runnign shoes generally start at 80 bucks. i would say order them from their but heres another site you could try www.endless.com
Reply:Try going to a sports store, they usually have all different kinds of shoes. Im sure if you explain what your looking for they can help you. Remember you always get what your paying for, cheap isn't always a good thing. Once you find the right shoe don't you want it to last a long time?
Reply:You could try finish line..they have all kinds of shoes or a Vans store..vans are soo comfortable and there not tight around the ankle..they dont go up that far..

if they are for like phys. ed. then just go to payless and buy a pair of ghetto shoes because you are only gonna wear them once so just buy crappy ones if they arent for anything special

Running Shoes still good?
I used to be a big runner until about 10 years ago when I got injured and stopped. I have an expensive pair of running shoes from then that are barely used. My question is. Are those running shoes still good? i.e. Does "time" wear down the support materials in running shoes?
Running Shoes still good?
Time will damage the shoes, especially if they had already been used before; I know you day barely used but they will have still likely picked up acidity for from the soil etc. and certianly will have picked up sweat while they were being used, with sweat etc. sat around in the trainer means they will degrade with time.
Without seeing your individual pair I couldn't tell you whether they were still good, how about buying a replacement pair, and comparing the cushioning etc. that way if you do decide they're fine you can get some more miles in them before switching, if they're not fine then you have a pair there. My best guess would be that they will probably not be in great condition, but it does depend how much 'barely' used is.
Reply:Yes, time will age the cushioning on your shoes. Most running web sites recommend new shoes at least every 9-12 months even if you haven't hit the 300-500 miles for this reason
Reply:No if your shoes havent been worn then they should nt be worn down. The only reason they would be worn down was unless some alien wore them while u were out.
It is always good to have two pairs anyway when jogging to swap them over on the one day u do jog and then the next day with the other pair intermittently. The most important thing with running is to look after your feet.
Reply:Spring for new shoes. Mark. The bottoms of your shoes are made from chemicals and begin to decline immediately after they are made.
Wear the old ones as a reminder that you should not repeat your injuries.
Good Luck
Reply:No, I have shoes 25 years old. Its the collar where the plastic oxidized and caused deterioration. I still run in my 35 year old New Balance Trackster 3's, with the bleeding blue suede
Reply:It is possible that some of the material may become hardened with time. The most important part of the shoe to check is the midsole layer of a shoe, which provides the cushioning and stability. The midsole is under the heel or the ball of the foot, and a shoe that has aged too long will show wrinkles and creases there.
The most definitive test is your own feet. Try on your shoes and go for a short run. If your shoes feel uncomfortable, or worse yet, if they cause you pain, muscle fatigue, or tightness, you are well past the appropriate time to get new shoes. If they feel fine, well, feel free to continue using them.
Reply:They most likely are slightly damaged from dry rot having sat around for 10 years. Now that you are using them again the dry rot will cause the shoes mid sole to break down quicker than normal. As long as you are not feeling pain in your feet, shins or knees using the shoes is okay.

Vans® slip-on shoes maintenance?
i wish i could help you but most of my vans have turned out like that. damn. how long have you had them? ive had this one pair for about two years... and they were ripped a few months after i bought em. but i found that..after buying two more pairs as the years went buy...the quality got better. and ive kept these shoes for many months now and they are clean + in perfect condition.
Reply:put them in the washing machine or just buy a new pair. i put mine alwayz in the microwave to dry and they have a fit to fit my foot once i put them on.
Reply:at the vans store theres a cleaner you can buy for five dollars
and super glue doesnt work....i tried on my vans
i had to buy new ones....mine were over two years old
hope i helped
Reply:time to throw them away and buy some new oness =]
%26amp; when u at the store , they sell cleaners and stuff for it. just ask next time you get some
Reply:come on now... theyre vans! get some new ones, theyre only 40 bucks. when you do buy, invest in some shoe protectant to spray on and then when they get dirty, theyre much easier to clean n junk. :D
p.s. if you wanna spend 60, you can go to journeys and buy super cute DC shoes :D (baby blue, hot pink, all kindsa junk)
EDIT: if youre not in america and dont have access/money, buy more reliable shoes. i had a pair of etnies that lasted me 3 years of hardcore wear and tear. cost me 80 bucks, but i wound up wearing out the padding on the inside, outside they still looked fabulous.

you can try Rubber Super Glue...
it's a package that's silver w/ Maroon words...its sticks super well and acts like a substitute to the the rubber on your shoes.
You can clean the rubber on your shoes w/ cotton balls and Alcohol (the kind for wounds, not the wine and other stuff) and just wipe the dirt off w/ that. It works super well.

Adidas Megabounce Shoes Making Noise?
I just bought a pair of the new adidas megabounce shoes over the weekend and i really love them other than that one of them makes a annoying popping noise evertime you take a step. Its at the toe of the shoe above where your toes would be. The material of the shoe is whats causing it because its a plastic material but i was wondering if i should just keep wearing them and maybe they'll break in and stop or should i try returning them?

Do non-leather, non-fabric shoes make feet sweat?
I've decided to explore vegitarianism as well as veganism and ease my way into them both by limiting my meat intake, as well as being conscious of the materials of clothes, shoes, and accessories I purchase. I remember someone once telling me to either wear leather shoes or those made of fabric because all other artificial materials such as rubber, pleather, etc does not allow skin to breathe and makes feet sweat. I was wondering if this is true at least to an extent. What types of shoes do vegans generally wear, material wise?
Do non-leather, non-fabric shoes make feet sweat?
Check out the great selection of shoes at http://mooshoes.com
If you decide to stop wearing animal materials there's PLENTY of options.
Reply:I wear chucks...with everything. I have like, 10 pairs and three pairs of skimmers. I only have one pair of other shoes...they're vinyl and they never make my feet sweat but I rarely wear them because they have 4" heels and I'm already 5'7. But really, chucks go with everything...skirts, dress pants, jeans, whatever you feel like wearing...just not a formal though lol.
Reply:To the best of my feeble knowledge, if it won't breathe the your feet will float! AND big ole blisters will appear rather suddenly. If it's summer time you may choose open shoes like slaps or thongs. Or opt for synthetic material shoes. Check out some of the travel and backpacking stores. I'm not a veggie-head, and I wear Vasque Sun Downers when I'm out and about. I've used my Downers around the world several times from jungles to snow capped peaks, and never had a problem. I'm on my 4th pair now.
Reply:sounds like you have problems, i say just wear flip-flops, then the bottom of your feet are covered and that is all that matters,,,,,,,,RIGHT??? I mean, it's hot, who is going to wear shoes unless they have to!
Reply:Vegans wear Birkenstock sandals, with socks, and nothing else.

Reply:So what if your feet sweat? Sweaty feet on a lady are irresistibly sexy. Sorry, don't take this the wrong way. I just want to point out that it's not as reviled as one may assume.

im not sure what the material of shoe is all white nike air force ones or like the all white adidas can u use the kandy paint on them and is there anything you need to do to make the paint stick looking for a specific awnser do i need to clear coat if i walk will the paint crack
House of kolor paint?
First off HOK(House of Kolor) paints are disigned for automotive painting, not fabic work. You should try searching the net for some different fabic paints. You will run in to too many problems if you use HOK on a pair of shoes. One being the fact that they are thinner based paints and not acrlicyls or enamales like mose fabic paints. Dixieart.com would probly be a good starting point.

Why would the Israeli army raid an orphanage and schools?
Thousands of Palestinian orphans on Tuesday took to the streets in this southern West Bank town to protest recent raids by the Israeli occupation army of their orphanages and boarding schools.
Hundreds of Israeli troops, backed up by armored carriers, raided the Islamic Charitable Society in downtown Hebron earlier this week , vandalizing property and looting hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of food materials, clothes, shoes and furniture donated by local and foreign donors for the benefit of the orphans.

Demonstrators marched nearly one kilometer through the Ein Sara street, one of the Hebron’s main thoroughfares, as Palestinian police escorted them.
Why would the Israeli army raid an orphanage and schools?
They aren't in the U.S. It is Canada or Scandanavia. They can do anything they want to the Palestinians. As far as i can make out, they feel they are punishing "the gentile" for the various wrongs they feel they have suffered elesewhere and in the past. They are not able to make any distinction between the various types if "gentiles" so brutalizing the Palestinians makes perfect sense; plus,if brutality is your kick, the more helpless the victim the more arousing it is. Sadists have always gone after children more than adults.

And three, another chance to steal, which is their favorite pastime.
Four, they don't care about any proposals or resolutions against this action by the UN, because they know the US will veto and such action.

How pathetic is an occupation army that empties out warehouses of food and clothing earmarked for orphans; how absurd is GOC Central Command Major General Gadi Shamni, who signs closure orders for beauty salons and clothing shops; how outrageous is the confiscation of industrial refrigerators in which food for children is kept; how cruel is a military regime that closes libraries used by young people; how ridiculous are the excuses that closing bakeries contributes to the war against terror; how foolish is the battle against dairies whose products are earmarked for these children; and how difficult is the situation of the Israeli occupation in the territories if it must resort to such contemptible activities in order to establish its status.

Okay I need to bleach my cheerleading shoes for tomarrow (the 1st day of school), and i need to know if I can clean then with straight bleach without ruining them... should i delude it? and HOW?
heres a link to the type of material my shoe is....

PLEASEhELP!?
You can clean them without using bleach. If you have a cleaning spray like Fantastik or even Windex. That will clean the shoes without ruining them.
If you must use bleach, use 1 part bleach to 50 parts water. So, roughly it's about a teaspoon in a 1/2 bucket of water. Be very careful %26amp; err on the side of not enough bleach. You can always add more but you can't take it back if you've ruined your shoes. Note: too much bleach will disintigrate the shoes. You may not notice right away but then you'll be wearing them and they'll fall apart.
Reply:There is whitiener for white sneakers. Try it
Reply:Delute the bleach and rinse well.
Reply:Instead of bleach, I would use a sneaker cleaner. You can get it at retail stores, like Walmart or Target. You can also get it at your local shoe store, if you have one. Bleach will eventually take a toll on the leather.
Reply:I use a bathroom spray cleaner w/ bleach like comet spray and wipe them with paper towels.
Reply:Dilute it by three. So for every cup of bleach, use three cups of water. That should work.
Reply:buy a new pair
Reply:Just spray them with 409 and wipe with a damp cloth. You may want to scrub them with an old tooth brush to get the crevices clean.
Reply:Jenni,
Make a paste---MIX a TEAspoon of bleach %26amp; a TABLEspoon of laundry soap(powder) wipe this ALL OVER your shoes ( careful it's still Bleach) wet a cloth %26amp; wipe off the marks...
GOOD LUCK
Reply:throw them in the washing machine......they'll turn out fine
Reply:I would not use straight bleach on your shoes. Wash them like you would wash whites using bleach (yes, in the washer) - that would be a safer bet. They also sell "sneaker white" anywhere they sell shoe polish. (local grocery store).

Hey yall, i have fetish for women wearing leather shoes or boots?
well ive asked this question before on how to approach a woman and ask her to fulfill my fetish.im asking again .im asking the women.my fetish does not include nudity or sex unless she agrees.this is how this fetish goes.when a woman wears leather shoes or boots and crosses her feet, and in my experiences when she purposely and conspicously rub her feet together to make the leather rub or whatever material the shoes are made to make shoes squeak and creak repititiously i desire for her to prop her feet in my lap and squeak them on me.now her feet are in my lap not across or on but in my lap and she would squeak them on me.now theirs no nudity and no sex its just a freaky thing, how would i ask her to fulfill my fetish.i always thought my fetish was pretty little and i still do comparing to many other fetishes i heard of .and what do you women think?
Hey yall, i have fetish for women wearing leather shoes or boots?
Find a special lady and get her some real squeaky shoes or boots as a gift. I have a fantastic pair of shiny black rubbery stilletoe knee-high boots I've never used-if you can find a gal who wear 8 1/2, I'll make you a deal!! Your fetish is harmless, and not gross, and I think you'll do okay to have your fantasies ufilled.
Reply:Wow, just ask the women.
Reply:no problem...could be worse...you could be the one that wants to wear them
Reply:Some people are not open to fetishes like that, but when you find someone you really like or love it shouldnt be that hard to ask her to fulfill your fetish fantasies.

Okay I need to bleach my cheerleading shoes for tomarrow (the 1st day of school), and i need to know if I can put the sholaces in plain bleach without ruining them... should i delude it?

Delude it, never put any fabric in straight bleach
Reply:I would use a shoe whitener and then just buy some new laces at the store.
Reply:bleach must be diluted. At plain bleach it may destroy your shoelace.
Reply:yea you should dilute it, straight bleach will ruin the shoes. you need only maybe 1/2 cup of bleach to add to the laundry
Reply:why did you ask it twice?
Reply:Pure bleach may leave a yellowish stain on the laces, but, if you have any stain remover products, such as shout, spray them with that, and soak in a pan of bleach water for a few minutes. Then Launder them as usual. Hope this helps!
I used to use a product called "Simple Green" on my sons white football pants, and it worked great!
Reply:Yes delude it.
Reply:You have to add water.
Reply:Always dilute bleach. It is too strong in its original form. Shoe laces can be easily replaced though, so I wouldn't worry too much about them. You should use one part bleach to at least three parts water. Don't let them soak for long either. I would soak them for about 5 minutes, then let them sit for another 15 minutes. Then rinse them thoroughly for at least 10 minutes or more. Set them in the sun to dry.
Reply:NEVER use straight bleach on anything. For cleaning the shoes I would try a Magic Eraser. That is one of those new cleaner sponges that attacks dirt and stains on cleanable surfaces like your shoes. The laces should be placed in diluted bleach and allowed to soak for an hour or so. Rinse well after and let air dry.

Morrison's Song of Solomon and the theme of Consumerism...?
I writing my essay partly on how different characters approach the materialistic culture. I'm choosing Pilate (not materialistic), Hagar (completely materialistic), and Milkman (changes from materialistic to not). (Almost a comparing essay).
I'm having trouble finding one more example of how Pilate is not materialistic (a quote from the book). Right now I have that the first thing she did when she got out of Circe's was take her shoes off (material goods). Can anyone think of another example?
Thanks ahead of time.

Target shoes?
I bought flats from target, but I have noticed they smell really bad after I wear them. I put baby powder on my feet, and bought odor eaters foot insoles. i never had this problem before with any type of shoes, even running shoes with thick socks. I know for a fact it is the shoes, is the odor caused by the material the shoes are made of, what else can i do...i really like these shoes because they are cute and can be worn w/ many outfits, but I'm not sure how to to eliminate the ordor.
Target shoes?
if they arent leather then that is why they smell. plastic and man made insoles make feet sweat. nothing will fix that!

How much is it worth?
Today i bought a 1911 copy of 12th Night, dark grey, soft cover, on the front it says The New Hudson Shakespeare, published by Ginn and Company, in good condition. I also bought a pair of handmade shoes from the early 1800's. they are women's shoes, grey material, silver silk embrodiered pattern. also in good condition. about how much would they be worth? also, would having the shoes restored, increase or decrease their value?
How much is it worth?
i dont know the values, but dont have the shoes restored, that will destroy the historical value.

Is there a way to stop my shoes from squeaking when I walk?
I have new shoes, man-made materials and they squeak when I walk in them.
Is there a way to stop my shoes from squeaking when I walk?
cheap shoes?
Reply:if its your feet making the noise, wear socks. If it's the shoes make sure the soles of your shoes are dry.
Reply:I step on chalk powder, but I remember using some powdery substance to make my ballet shoes not slippery and/or squeky. Forgot the name though.
Reply:Try scuffing the rubber soles of the shoes on some sandpaper, or on the grip-tape of a skateboard. If the shoes surface is really smooth, you'll get that squeaky rubbery sound. You might also try going for a jog with them on pavement.
Let me know how that works out for you.

Egg Drop Competition! HELP ME! DUE MONDAY!?
I need an idea for the egg drop competition. These are the rules. The vehicle can't have a mass more than 100 grams. The vehicle must fit in a shoe box. The materials are self-provided, so try to be as least costly as possible. No parts of the vehicle can fall during the drop or impact. Any type of common adhesives can be used. The drop is 15 feet high. A raw egg must be able to be easily inserted and removed from the vehicle. The egg must survive the fall. THE NEXT PART IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART! PLEASE READ! The vehicle must have the SLOWEST drop as possible. If there is a tie, the LIGHTEST mass wins. So, I need a vehicle that is the LIGHTEST as possible and can drop the SLOWEST as possible without breaking the egg. PLEASE HELP ME! IT IS DUE MONDAY 11/26.07! THANK YOU!

you should use a shoe a paracute, a baby shoebox with cotton
Reply:Use the Thermocoal. The thermocoal will have a light weight and will have a slowest fall. Provide a cavity for the egg inside the thermocoal. the thermocal will act as a shock absorber and the thermocoal is no need to be too large but should be thick enough. the egg will not break
Reply:You need:
Several styrofoam cups
at least one sheet of balsa wood
1 roll of Scotch tape or masking tape
several very thin plastic sandwich bags
a lot of eggs.
Use the balsa wood to make three sticks about 1/4" wide and a foot long. Place more balsa wood as fins on one end of each stick. Tape the sticks to the styrofoam cup to give it some aerodynamic guidance; you want the cup to hit the ground first, not the fins!
Take the thin plastic and form it into small bags, about half again the size of the egg. Tape the new bag closed, but do not wrap it in tape; one small strip should do fine. Place a loop of tape in the bottom of the styrofoam cup and push the bag gently against it.
Put an egg on top of the bag and drop. The airbag in the bottom of the cup should protect the egg adequately. If not, tinker with the amount of tape on the bag until it gives a satisfactory blowout without breaking the egg.

create a parachute - use a lightweight material such as silk
for the container for the egg to sit in, use one section of an egg carton for the cradle to hold the egg, with a very thin amount of cotton wool inside it for extra padding, and either have some lightweight padding or some springs or something on the outside to cushion the landing.
Use a golf ball to practice with your chute, rather than buying a few dozen eggs. keep practicing and adjusting until your chute stays upright and glides slowly down. all too often it will tip sideways, spiral out of control or not open. i think the tip is to make it bigger that you expect,
Reply:Use a Thermocoal. Thermocoal is so light and it will have a slower fall. My best suggestion is to suspend the egg, and pad the inside walls of the box with as soft a material as you can find. It's been a long time since I participated in an egg-drop competition! Good luck!

How do you clean the peachy material of a tennis shoes?
I've got Jeter shoes and the soft material has some flat parts of dirt on it. Can this be cleaned without ruining it anymore? I've used a stiff brush on it and that just took off the loose dirt but not the real dirt. Can I try to clean it like a felt hat? It also has patent leather on it, can I do something about the small scratches? Thanks. The shoes are still in excellent shape except for these few minor details.
How do you clean the peachy material of a tennis shoes?
what about Mr. Clean Magic eraser??
worth a try.

Reply:what about one of those short jackets out now they are in every shop in the high street topshop has some nice 1s

Wear cardigans as they can keep you warm and they look very flattering.
Get white heels and it will go with your dress and it will also go with anything else you wear.
Reply:A wrap. Then you can dress it up with like Your hair tied up in a loose bun with strands comng out if you get me. Silver jewelry as well. Nothing to OTT. But simple. You would be amazed how good it can look
Reply:With this horrible weather i would wear a mac style jacket, then as soon as your indoors, take the jacket off. Theres a nice one in warehouse.

What material of shoes can be dyed?
Can white matte satin shoes be dyed?
What material of shoes can be dyed?
idk but i do kno payless sells different styles of dye-able shoes....just ask the cashier for assistance
Reply:i wouldnt do much guessing, try to find some shoes that are specifically dyeable so u dont screw anything up accidentally!
Reply:Sorry but they are not recommended for dyeing.
hope that this helps
Reply:Depends on what type of dye is used but you won't get good results unless you really know how to do it.. I have tried Dylon multi-purpose dye and it has good results.
You could try using a fabric marker to create designs or patterns if you want to change the look of the shoes.
Reply:Satin shouldn't really be dyed. I 'd say the best material for dying is canvas.

After cleaning white shoes, stains re-appear?
Okay,
so i cleaned my white shoes,
they are mainly leather...and the tongue of the shoe is like a white cloth material.
the shoe also has brown suede stripes on the side.
after i finished washing them, they looked great!
they were spotless.
i used normal Tide cleaning detergent.
but the next day, after i let them air-dry,
the tongue of the shoe had this ugly brown color running through the middle of it...
what did i do wrong?
After cleaning white shoes, stains re-appear?
It sounds like dye from the suede sides bled and was absorbed by the cloth tongue. You might be able to soak the tongues in oxyclean to remove the stain. Since your shoes are a mix of leather, suede and cloth you should probably not soak them in water, but spot clean the cloth tongues, use a suede brush on the suede part and a leather cleaner on the leather part.
Reply:You washed out the die that colored the brown leather white.

What options do I have to protect my hardwood floor from my dogs nails scratching them?
With out putting on a sock or shoe like material. I have already tried that.
What options do I have to protect my hardwood floor from my dogs nails scratching them?
Use a polyurethane finish on the hardwood floors and the nails won't scratch it. I just put down hardwood floors last August, and I have two long-nailed terriers who race and slide across the floor on a daily basis. The only scratches we got had nothing to do with the dogs...it was when we were moving a dresser by putting it on a beach blanket and sliding it across the floor. A small pebble found its way under the blanket and left a few scratches. I used that orange-glo hardwood refinisher and you can't tell there was ever a mark.
Reply:you need to talk to an obdience trainer because it sounds like a behavioral problem

Is this the solution to prisons being full in the UK?
UK prisons are getting full. This means the tax payer is having to pay millions more every year to manage the increase in prisoners and limited cells means dangerous people are being released too early.
Prisoners are locked-up 23 hours a day and never finance their rehabilitation.
So here’s the solution:
Set-up secure work environments %26amp; make every prisoner work for 12 hours a day, 7 days a week on manual manufacturing tasks, like making shoes, recycling materials, etc.
This will help pay for their keep %26amp; teach them that they need to earn a living honestly.
But the best part is, they’re out of their cells for half a day, therefore we could have two people using each cell on opposite 12 hour shift. One sleeps in the day %26amp; works at night. The other sleeps at night %26amp; works 12 hours in the day.
The benefits - Prison overcrowding solved. Tax burden reduced. Early release re-offending gone
What do you think?
Is this the solution to prisons being full in the UK?
Thats an excellent idea.
It makes space for all the prisoners as well as having them do some hard work for no reward-an excellent punishment.
You should be in parliament my friend.
Reply:That's a pretty great idea. I wish this could happen in the U.S aswell.
Either that or have the families pay , which would be pretty harsh. Some prisons well in the U.S have the prisioners work. Some of them make licenses plates at some prisons.
Reply:I have always thought that leasing prisons in third world countries was a good idea. It helps us because it reduces the cost of incarceration by using cheap local labour, and it helps the economy of the developing nation. Save money for us and get the feelgood factor of helping abroad. Prisoners visitation rights ? They broke the law.......F*** 'em.
Reply:Don't let them make shoes! They'll probably poo in them and stuff.
Reply:Not sure how you work out the 're-offending gone' bit.
In the US they use acupuncture as part of detox programs that on completion give early release too. They have done so for over 20 years and do so from East to West coast. They have something like an 85% success rate at keeping users clean and out of prison. The american taxpayer doesn't have to cough up 3/4 million £ compensation because their government says their prisoners have to come clean cold turkey.
I can source and link on this subject but need to dig so let me know if it worth my time if you are interested.
Reply:sounds like a good idea, but the MAN will never go for it...I think we should drop them off on a deserted island somewhere for a week with no food.Come back with limited food and weapons...Let them kill each other...Yea...your idea much better, or atleast poiliticaly correct.
Reply:Yep it is a good idea, but it's now illegal thanks to the EU bill of human rights. Best thing is to just keep letting them get away with it, let them have as much booze and drugs as they like and hopefully they'll kill themselves and eachother over the next couple of generations - permanent solution.
Reply:prisons for profit in the us allow prisioners computer access and they get access to peoples credit cards as they take orders for merchandise for companies giving jobs to prisioners. they have managed to run up peoples credit cards and if they get out soon they have lots of womens home addresses, the best thing is to shoot a million or two of them.
Reply:i see two problems here
1. its an infringement on their human rights to make them work, coz on the outside they didnt have too

I would like to know what your girliest, most feminine outfit is?
Black sleek dress which is short.
High heeled sexy open shoes.
Diamonds add sparkle.
Light make-up.
Seductive scent.
Hairstyle - the one that you twist a portion of it and put pins on it.with some hairs just freely falling.. (pretty hard to describe eh). The one where chinese put on chopsticks on their hairs.. somethin like that. ;-)

New white shoes with stain?
I just got a new pair of white shoes and they have a stain across the side of them because I decided to where them outside in the snow weather and dirt or something got on them from the parking lot.
Long story short, how do I get the stain out with out ruining the shoes (color, material)?
New white shoes with stain?
What kind of shoes are they? What type of fabric is it? You can try soaking it Woolite and lightly scrubbing the stain. But it really depends on what type of fabric it is
The Woolite should get rid of the stain if its not too bad. You could try bleach but that rarely works

Do scuff marks on tennis courts affect the performance of the court?
I've played tennis since I was a kid and have always encountered the tennis-shoes-only-because-they-don't-scu... rule.
First, I can't find any literature (scientific evidence) about why tennis shoes don't scuff while others do. I swear I've had black soled non-tennis shoes that didn't scuff before...
Second, I can't find any evidence that scuffing actually damages the court surface. Seems to me that it just makes it look ugly.
My questions:
1) What are tennis shoe soles made of? Are they always made of the same material? Are non-tennis shoe soles ever made out of this material? Why do other shoes scuff while tennis shoes supposedly don't?
2) Is there any literature out there about this? Where?
3) How does scuffing affect the ability to play competitively on the courts? Is it just an aesthetic problem or does the shoe sole material somehow chemically react with the court surface or something, leading to failure or the need to resurface?
Thanks!
Do scuff marks on tennis courts affect the performance of the court?
The biggest problem with scuff marks is that they make it difficult to see where the mark that the ball made is. This makes it difficult to call lines.
Another problem would be that black marks all over the court would be very distracting to someone who is trying to play.
Reply:I think its purely aesthetics as well as making sure you don't have black marks all over the court and in possibly critical areas. ie: calling lines.
I do know that some shoes are made out of tire rubber, but if you noticed, rarely will you find black soled tennis shoes. There are different rubber densities for specific sports. So for basketball shoes, they have a fairly soft rubber for indoor basketball courts. For tennis, it seems that most shoes are made for hardcourts and durability, you'll more often find a harder rubber on tennis shoes.
I don't think there is any drop in peformance of the courts. Although I couldn't be sure because I haven't really seen a problem with excessive black sole marks on a court. I think its just an issue specifically with black soled shoes more than whether its a tennis shoe or not.
One sure way to find out whether the sole will scuff the court, run the outer edge of the sole against a court or sidewalk. If it doesn't mark, you're probably ok.
I hope this helps!
Reply:It is bad luck to step on scuff marks while playing.

Please help me...... please......?
my 5 year old cousin is having some issues. she is physically hurt by some materials, shoes, ect. before, a tag might bother her, but know there are only 3 outfits she will wear and her hair has to be pulled back as tight as i possibly can. there is only one pair of shoes that she will wear. and she is not just trying to get attention or anything like that..... i have seen her when she wears something that bothers her. u can see the physical pain it causes her. her mother hasnt talked to a doctor yet but we have no idea what it might be. i dont think its a form of autism because her mother is a physical therapist and works with autisic childen, i think she would have picked up on it. and its gotten worse from when i last saw her so i dont think its something that she will grow out of. but if u have any ideas about what this is or any useful websites i would be very greatful.....
Please help me...... please......?
Look up tactile defensiveness. I'm surprised her mother doesn't know about sensory integration disorders. Have her ask a pediatric occupational therapist. They can give her tons of help! Best of luck and bless you for caring so much about your cousin.
Reply:I agree with Guinea girl...possible sensory integration disorder. I DISAGREE with Larry's comment that occupational therapy is like behavior modification. It has nothing to do with behavior modification, it's a way to retrain the sensory system to sense "normal" sensations as normal.
Just about everyone has some type of aversion to a sensation, but when they are persistent and interfere with daily life is time for her to get help. Other signs would be: aversion to certain textures of food, aversion to loud noises, aversion to lotions, creams or body soaps, etc.
Reply:I would assume she has extremely sensitive skin. A lot of people have trouble with tags on undies and clothes - that's why Hanes and Fruit of the Loom started making tag-less undies..
It could also be the detergent her clothes are being washed in -
I use downy on all my Dad's clothes as his skin is very sensitive. I used to use the dye %26amp; scent free stuff for myself, but then discovered some laundry balls (I'm sorry, I don't remeber the name - they are white and filled with white pellets- got 'em at Bed bath %26amp; beyond) that have no chemicals in them and it's helped my sensitivity.
At 5 she should only be bathing every few days, make sure you use infant safe products with no fragrances. I know which fragrances set me off, but everyone has different triggers.
The hair probably irratates her neck, try a gentler shampoo.
Try lotion on her skin - I use St. Ives Extreme healing, Eucerin is what my dr gave me to try too.

Reply:This is clearly a sensory issue and your cousin should see an occupational therapist right away. Some exercises like playing with play doh, dry rice, shaving cream, sand, using a brush on her skin, and walking barefoot on the grass have been used to desensitize individuals with sensory disorder.
Some parents are using weighted vests and blankets to provide deep pressure and this seems to help their kids. Another mother ( who is a doctor) has found that spandex tights and body suits allow her child to wear clothing.
As for a medical reason I would look into the possiblility of metal or chemical poisoning. This could have damaged her nervous system. I know that since I radically changed my son's diet to gluten/casein free, added vitamin/mineral supplements, detoxing him of heavy metals ( mercury, lead, and arsenic, and giving him an anti inflammatory drug that most of these " sensitivities" have gone away. Clothing tags were a big problem before but now I rarely have to remove them.
This approach may seem strange but a Chinese acupuncturist diagnosed metal poisoning as the reason behind my son's sensitivitiies. The metal poisoning was later confirmed through multiple medical tests.
Reply:The fact that it is not skin sensitivity, along with the fact that the girl likes her hair tied tight--a typical autistic symptom-- makes it look like a psychological issue. The aversion to tags on clothes is a red flag. If the child is freaked out by really specific sensations, like loose hair touching the cheek, and it's getting worse; well if that's not autism I don't know what else it could be. I think the mother is in denial, which is VERY common among mothers with autistic children.
As for occupational therapy, that's like behavior modification therapy. That could be disastrous to an autistic child. I knew a woman who sent her seven-year-old autistic daughter to a behavior therapist because her doctor told her her child had a form of "brain damage." The girl ended up having to be instituionalized.
Anyway, if it is autism it isn't so catastrophic as people would have you believe. If an autistic child is given careful and patient therapy he will outgrow the condition. In adulthood he may have a residue of the infantile autism in the form of an oddball unsocial personality, but that's it. He will be well within the range of normality.

Smelly feet in cheap shoes?
okay, Im on a budget and can't always buy leather shoes, so I have to buy the cheap manmade material shoes. Wearing them all day makes my feet smelly and I can't take them off at work. What do I do, I already tried some powder it does'nt work much.

Bring one of those little packs of baby wipes with you - should fit in your purse. I have the same problem.
I have never tried this suggestion above, I just thought of it when you asked. But you could go to the ladie's room, wipe them and make sure they are very dry before putting shoes back on. If it can make a baby's dirty butt smell better, it can't hurt!
Also, charcoal insoles. You can buy similar sheets to put in some kitty litter boxes to absorb the smell. I'm sure your feet aren't THAT bad (believe, I have a cat) so they should help. I think they also absorb the sweat.
ALSO: Look for my favourite 4 letter word: SALE! Buy then. Buy the leather shoes offseason on clearance. Outlet malls always have shoe stores. Do you have easy to fit shoes? You can buy some great leathers (even unused) for bargains on ebay. Now go to it!
Cheers from another underbudget shoe buyer.
Reply:I had the same problem, my result of non leather shoes was
2 weeks of peeling and itching feet (athletes foot, which is a fungus growing on your skin. It is not worth it to wear those shoes. Try canvas shoes, they are cheaper. otherwise when you have the money and see a sale pick up a pair of good shoes whether you need them or not. Save them untill a pair wears out. Take them off as soon as you can and let your feet breath. Hope this helps!!!
Reply:Go to yard sales and flea markets, Salvation Army and Goodwill. You can find some nice shoes on a budget.
Do you wear cotton socks or do you have to wear nylons? Wear socks if you can.
Reply:Have you tryed an insert, or they even make speacil socks to prevent odor. The problem is that your feet don't breath and the scent stays trapped as they sweat. I personally like the socks, they are inexpensive. I just bought a 3 pack at Wal-mart for 6 bucks.
Reply:wash your feet when you bathe.
Reply:Use deodorant on your feet in the morning, it may help.
Reply:wow...

How are shoes made?
What raw materials are shoe made of and how are they extracted?
How are shoes made?
Leather : first they catch an kill a poor cow, or bull, or horse, and maybe even a gator.
Next they skin it, (yep, they're dead, I think) and take the hide or skin to someone that puts it in acid, or something nasty, then these same people send it throgh a process they call "tanning". This is supposed to cure the material and make it useable so it doesn't stink.
Next, they send this processed leather to Mexico, China, or some other place that pays their workers next to nothing to cut, shaped, and assemble these products into shoes, some that will fit according to desired size, and others that are not even close.
Then these shoes are put on boats and shipped back to the states where they are sold at the same price as if they were made here by well paid American workers. Guess who's making money?
These same inferior products are not only sold at Wal Mart, but even the high end national shoe chains and department stores, but of course at different prices. depending on the location and rent the store has to pay.

If you think that those are muddy on the inside, you obviously haven't met my son, Soccergod.
Throw them in the washer, set the machine on wash, add a few bathtowels and add 1/2 cup detergent. Let the the machine do the work, then air dry them. They'll be just fine, and clean to boot!
Reply:Wash them in the washer with Tide and Clorox bleach. I have washed my shoes that way for years and it doesn't damage the leather or dry it out. I just air dry them.
Reply:baking soda and peroxide scrubbed on with a soft brush, then rinse... or baking soda and peroxide toothpaste will work the same way, and whiten the white.
or oxi-clean, or vinegar and baking soda....
these bubbling solutions work well for cleaning mud out of fabrics because they release gases in the bubbles (peroxide releases oxygen and vinegar releases carbon dioxide) that break the dirt loose from the fabric.
:)
how to use a washing machine...select water temperature (cold)..select wash size (the smallest setting).. set dial to "wash"..... turn the washer on (you either pull out the dial or push the start button).... add detergent..... put shoes in.... close the lid
*take the shoe strings out first to get them the cleanest.
*air dry, don't put them in the drier
Reply:can you put them in the washing machine with some vinager and baking soda just wash them on gentle cycle they should be fine and all the mud should come out.

My daughter had suede boots, gorgeous cream.she went out in the mud.disaster.so I got a little bit of washing up liquid, and lightly sponged it.dont put much at all.warm and a little bit w/up liquid.dab it.it looks worrying when wet, dries lovely.they were like new again.a suede brush is a waste of time
Reply:go to the shoe store. they have special stuff to fix your problem.. i have some shoes like that to. don't use soap and water like the other person said. it will mess them up.
Reply:use a wash cloth with dish soap
Reply:i use an old toothbrush.. pour little amount of washing liquid on it and brush ur shoes firmly.
Reply:oxy clean, it works on everything and it's safe too.

Reply:go to the shoe store. they have special stuff to fix your problem.. i have some shoes like that to. don't use soap and water like the other person said. it will mess them up.

I'm making a modified jean corset. material help???
I'm making a traditional corset out of jean material. Besides the usual boning, I'd like to put maybe a flexible plastic or very hard (like shoe leather) material inside the two front and two of the side panels. I want this sucker to stand up on its own!!!!Any suggestions? I could load up on layers of jean, but that would add bulk and that's something I want to avoid.
I'm making a modified jean corset. material help???
Actually, if you do 3 layers (outer, middle, and lining) out of the denim, combined with the boning, this will be exactly what you're after. It will give you the strength you're looking for, the breathability that plastic won't afford, and will offer some flexibility (relatively speaking). The boning will give a tremendous amount of stiffness in just the right places to keep everything just-so. Plus, the 3 layers aren't that thick, especially when compared to some plastic options.
Reply:You want breathability ( pardon the pun when it comes to tight lacing) of your inner material- if you put plastic etc it will not be pleasant and you will be quite clammy. You purchase veg tan "belting leather in different "weights" and you could match exactly to your application. what used to be "tandy leather" is now "The leather factory" and sells leather and other tooling supplies etc- they should be a great resourse.
best of luck
Reply:Try using Timtex. That's the stiff material used in fabric bowls and baseball cap brims.
Reply:You know what works pretty well is cutting out a piece from a milk gallon. (I've done this before for a Renaissance dress) It's pretty sturdy plastic.

How do u make material on hard shoes soft?
Ok the thing is that i have thse hotttt shoes that I got about 4 or 5 months ago. ..i couldn't wear them again because the material is too stiff and it cut my foot..is there anything i could do to these adorable shoes to make them softer? its the strappy part in the front that bothers..i attached a link to a picture for an example...(not the actual shoe..just example)

How do u make material on hard shoes soft?
1- Pour some alcohol onto a cotton ball.
2- Rub the cotton ball thoroughly all over the inner part of the shoe.
3- Repeat the process until you are sure the alcohol has soaked into the leather.
4- Use Vaseline to rub onto the stiff parts of the leather. (only once)
This process is best done by using your fingers. Make sure you rub the entire stiff parts with the Vaseline.
5- Wait for the alcohol to evaporate. Clean the shoe with a cotton ball to remove the remaining Vaseline that was not absorbed.
Reply:Just wear a band-aid until it wears in. It won't cut you, and they are skin colored. And those shoes are too adorable to NOT wear.
Reply:My grandmother once told me about this trick that I guess she used to use (I've never tried it), but she said to wad up wet paper towel and stuff it tightly inside the shoe. Hopefully it works!

Growing up in Northern Ireland, we always wore gutties for PE, a type of rubber soled shoe. why "gutties" ?
Only a name as far as I can see found in Scotland and Northern Ireland, where does it come from?, as far as I can tell it is a terminology for a type of rubber (and for you Americans I dont mean condom !!!, a rubber in the uk refers to something that can erase pencil marks !!!, or a material used for making tyres (Translated: "tires") )
Growing up in Northern Ireland, we always wore gutties for PE, a type of rubber soled shoe. why "gutties" ?
I think the word "Guttie" comes from the type of rubber used to make gutties, from the resin of the Isondra Gutta tree found in the tropics - the same used to make one of the first types of golf ball - made of rubber, also called the Guttie.

How do I get those white lines from the snow off my shoe?
I have a chestnut brown pair of clogs and they are made out of that soft material on ugg boots and my problem is, is that they got wet from the snow and slush and they dried and everything but the snow/slush left these weird white lines on them from where the snow/slush dried on the highest point and I can't get it off. Can someone help please?
thanks!
How do I get those white lines from the snow off my shoe?
The white lines are from the salt that gets put on the ground. It probably gets on your jeans too. Don't worry, it washes out. Your clogs... I would take a damp towel and rub it over the spots. Maybe put a drop of Dawn on the towel too.
It's not permanent and it won't ruin your shoes.
Reply:i suggest you go to a shoe store and ask for help they should help you there is a special spray for them and to avoid more of those in the future =) good luck.

Dog chewing, will bitter apple spray or others work on solid materials? (Like plasic, metal...ect...)?
I have a 6 months old mastiff/rottie mix name Lola.
She is a wonderful puppy, but has 2 very bad habits - digging %26amp; chewing. We put in an invisible fence to keep her (and our other dog) from digging under our wood fence, but now, Lola chew's the plastic/metal box off our other dogs collar! Making the invisible fence completely useless. And at $80 a piece, we don't want to keep buying more. We've been working with her to teach her not to chew remotes, cell phones, shoes, plaster, ect... and often provider her with a safe alternative like a cow knuckle, sometimes rawhides, %26amp; toys. But, before we buy another training collar, will the deterent sprays work on hard plastic? Or will she just lick it off %26amp; try to eat it again? Is there anything else we can put on hard surfaces (that won't need reapplication every time she drools on it ) to discourage her attempts to eat them?

I use Vinegar ! :)
try it !! Its works and cheap
Reply:I would call and ask the company, due to it may cause the battery not to work from the moisture not sure. They have stuff the vets use called YUCK know that works, lasts longer, and they DON"T like it, the bitter apple may help, I've found it doesn't last really long and lots seem to like it? Don't ask me, I think both are bad but the YUCK is the best, call around you may have to get some from the vet, it's a bit pricey but you use very, very little and if you by accident get it on your fingers and in your mouth, YUCK!!! Best of luck
Reply:It will work on hard surfaces, but only if she doesn't like it.
Try putting a little on your finger, if she likes it, then it's useless. Also try Tabasco - Same thing, put it on your finger and let her lick it. Beyond that, you're going to have to go to something even hotter, like a Habanero based sauce.
Reply:Try dusting the objects (LIGHTLY) with cayenne pepper. Everytime I bought new pet beds, my Labs would chew the zippers out of them first chance they got. I was chatting with a man at a pet store one day and he suggested the pepper. Even though I still despise those nylon zippers they insist on putting on dog beds, the dogs no longer chew on them :-) It works, you might have to re-apply it a few times, but I would think she'd get the idea that she doesn't like the pepper pretty quickly.
Reply:What a clever dog! I'm going to chew this thing off of you, so you can dig under the fence!
Well, here's my two cents... and that's about all it's worth...
I would set up a designated dig area for Lola. Encourage her to dig in her special dig place. Hide her toys there, little treats, fun things to CHEW on, and have her dig them out. Reward her new fun place to dig. You can get a childrens sand box, with a lid. When you don't want her digging, close it. When you want to encourage digging, open it. Now I know it's not deep enough to be really fun for the mix you have, but perhaps you could be innovative? Cut out the bottom? Who knows. I just think it's important that you can cover up her special dig area, so she knows she doesn't ALWAYS get to dig, but it's a special reward/play.
Now, if you have a dig problem solved, you won't be reliant on the electric fence under your other fence. However, I can see why you like the security of the second fence, so lets see what we can do to prevent the chewing of the collars. Do they wear their collars both inside and outside? If not, you might want to try having them on all the time, so they don't feel like it's a foreign object.
Other than lots of activity and exercise, as well as providing her postive things to chew on, there's not much else that can be done. I don't think sprays, etc. will stop a determined chewer. Stay positive, she's six months old. She'll stop chewing on things. In the mean time, you could attempt to separate your two dogs, so Lola can't chew her pals collar.
Anyhoo, good luck!
Reply:you will have to re-apply but hopefully not very often once she gets the idea. bitter-apple worked for my dog, my vet suggested a tabasco a couple drops to a 2 cups of water, but ask as this is may cause lots of drool and may burn the dog's mouth if made too strong.
Reply:Although I've heard of some dogs not minding or even seeming to like the bitter apple, most hate it, so they probably won't even try to lick it off.
I used it on a lot of things with my puppy - curtains, wooden coffee tables, couches, etc. Now I just have to shake the bottle and she stops.
As for the smaller things (remotes, etc) you will just have to remember to keep them out of her reach.
